How to Continue Wedding Planning During Quarantine

The world is forever changed. With all provinces in Canada declaring a state of emergency social gatherings over 10 people including weddings had to be postponed. While some aspects of your wedding planning journey may have come to a halt, we want to encourage you to continue to work on your big day. Below are a few wedding related items you should check off your to-do list while you are at home in quarantine

1. Create and/or Update your Wedding Website

A wedding website is GOLD in our books. It acts as a resource for many things: receiving RSVPs, informing your guests on wedding related details such as directions, accommodation options, and parking requirements. Plus its a great place to host all your wedding photos for your guests to access post wedding. Especially during COVID-19 when a lot of couples have had to postpone their weddings, we encourage creating a website to keep your guests updated on any changes to your big day. This is the most fluid way to keep everyone informed without having to contact them all separately. Trust us when we say; you don’t want hundreds of messages from various guests asking the same damn thing!

Pro Tip:

Don't want to dish out a lot of money for your wedding website? Visit The Knot, Wedding Wire , Zola , and Wix. These are just a few great resources where you can create your own wedding website, and sometimes for free.

2. Create your Music Playlists

A lot of our couples leave their music list to the very end. You have 2 days before your DJ requires your song list be submitted, and that's when you start scrapping together a list. I'll say it here, and will repeat it until I lose my voice: Music is the unsung hero of every wedding (cliché very much intended). I want you to start thinking about your day and the atmosphere you want to create. Your DJ is likely a trained professional who does not require you to be Uber prescriptive, however its helpful to let him know your preferred genre, and some songs you both love to which he can drawn inspiration from. How do you envision your big day to feel like? Is it upbeat and fun, jazzy and moody, slow and classical? Whatever it is, your music needs to reflect it. Once you start looking into your music, it will give you further insight into your processional order and so much more.

We encourage you to create a playlist for your entire day, and respective activities:

Entrance (Ceremony Processional + Reception Entrance)

First Dance

Father Daughter/ Son Mother

Reception Music (Dinner, Speeches, Games, Toasts etc.)

PRO TIP: Don't just provide the song name and the artist, but also the exact time in which you want the song to begin.

3. Work on Your Thank-You Cards/Speech

Thank-you cards are such an after thought. It's so very important to thank the people who have helped make your big day come to life. From your spouse, to your parents, bridal party and vendors - don't leave anything unsaid. An attitude of gratitude will mean the world to them. We recommend getting your thank you speech completed in advance of all the festivities. Take the time now to develop the outline now and feel free to revisit your notes as needed.
