What is month of coordination and how does it differ from day of coordination?
My couples ask me this all the time.
I’ll be honest: “Month-of” coordination is really “Day-of” coordination and vise versa. With the term “day-of” the assumption is that your wedding planner or wedding coordinator meets with you a few days prior to your wedding and somehow shows up on your big day ready to slay all the wedding dragons. With “Month-of” Coordination, its implied that this service takes months, because it truly does take time for us to become knowledgeable enough about your wedding details to represent your vision on the wedding day. They are essentially the same service, however “Day-of” is more commonly used in the industry to describe this wedding planning service [wherein the couple does all of the planning themselves (ie sourcing a venue, vendors and creating a wedding design themselves) but hires a wedding planner or wedding coordinator to manage their wedding details leading up to AND on the wedding day to make sure that their wedding plans are executed as planned]. As your “month-of” and/or “day-of” planner we typically create and keep the timeline to ensure everything flows smoothly and act as the direct contact for the wedding party, vendors and bride and groom alike.
We at Day of Wedding Coordinator (DOWC) personally believe this is an invaluable services for couples getting married everywhere (and its not only because we specialize in it lol). Think about it this way: you’ve invested money, resources and time planning your wedding. You have put infinite amounts of thought and energy into your wedding design and décor, your seating chart, timeline, menu, music choices, your venue, the ceremony, your wedding stationary, wedding vendors selection, setup and everything you have envisioned for your big day. The peace of mind that there’s someone present when you are otherwise occupied (ya know, getting married and stuff) to execute your vision and “lead the brigade” so to speak is priceless.
We give ourselves as much time as your wedding requires to become deeply familiar with all your wedding plans and ideas, vendor contracts and vision for the day. Based on our experience 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding has been the sweet spot timeline wise, although some weddings may require more or less preparation. Either way, we are here as a resource to help you achieve a stress-free wedding celebration whether you are at the start of your planning journey or approaching the end.
