Wedding Advise From Past Brides + Grooms

Since hindsight is 2020, we went back to some of our couples who are celebrating their one year anniversary and reminiscing about the big day to see if they had any advise to share with other couples who are about to tie the knot. Below is a list of what we collectively came up with. We hope these tidbits of knowledge will help you as you scope out your day and finalize all the wedding prep:

  • "If you're not tied to any tradition, have a first look before you say "I do" and take some bridal party photos. It's a real time saver later on, and allowed us to enjoy cocktails with our guests" - I&M

  • "Pack tupperware and take your breakfast and/or lunch food to go. Food can be hard to locate when you're being pushed in a 1000 directions. Make this your MOHs task numero uno!" - N&N

  • "Don't sweat the small stuff that doesn't go as planned. Your guests weren't expecting it to begin with and sometimes you got to let the small things go to enjoy the moment." -L&S

  • "Hands down, hire a wedding day-of coordinator! We can't imagine what our day would've looked like if you [Maleila] weren't there to lead. A royal mess IMO lol" -S&R

  • "Live in the moment, and allocate 5 mins to pause with your spouse. The day goes by so quickly, and everything ends up being such a blur."

  • "Use your reception centerpieces as your ceremony decor too. All you need to do is transfer them after (Maleila helped us with this) and you've saved major money!" -K&T

  • "Order food for delivery (McDonalds, Pizza, Tim Hortons etc) as your late-night snack (if your vendor permits). Its cheap, convenient and delicious at midnight.

  • "Maleila recommended we do e-vites as a way to cut costs after planning our wedding for the second time over after COVID19. What a great save!"

  • "Whatever you do, skip the favors and save yourself the money! We still have honey left over from our wedding - its been 1 year and 1 month to be exact." -N+B

  • "Get a wedding email that yourself and hubby share. Everything wedding goes here, trust us it will keep you sane" "V+A
