Top 5 Wedding and Engagement Photo Locations in Toronto & GTA

When our couples ask us about the best engagement and wedding photo-shoot locations in Toronto and GTA we always suggest locations that are unique to their love story: the restaurant you went to for your first date, the park where you met for the first time or unique little hubs around the city where you fell in love. This will make your photos all the more meaningful.

If you're not super sentimental and/or your go-to-spots don't photograph well, not to worry! We've created a list of the top 5 engagement and wedding photo shoot locations in Toronto & GTA.

1. Aga Khan Museum

Known for its architectural appeal, clean lines and muted design, Aga Khan Museum makes for the perfect outdoor location for couples looking for a modern and edgy photo-shoot. The museum showcases Islamic, Iranian and Muslim art and is located in North York. Permits are required.

Looking for something historic, but in-doors? Check out Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).

2. Distillery District

The Distillery District screams art, music, entertainment and most importantly, CULTURE. Adorned with cobblestone streets, hip indie restaurants and boutique stores in the background. We love it for its rustic look and feel. No Permit Required for Engagement Shoots, Permit Required for Weddings.

Looking for a vibrant outdoor city location, without the permit? Check out the St.Lawrence Market or Kensington Market. They are a fantastic secondary location for those looking for an artsy photojournalistic vibe.

3. University of Toronto (Knox College/Hart House)

Full of rich history, architectural delights and a pretty courtyard, Knox College/Hart House is one of the most popular destinations for engagement shoots in downtown Toronto for a reason. Take advantage of the natural lighting, and medieval-like staircases, and cascading arches. Permits are required.

Looking for a backup plan for University of Toronto? Think Osgoode Hall. Its a great location for classic architecture and they don’t require a permit.

4. Casa Loma

Located in midtown Toronto, Casa Loma is great for both indoor photo-shoots and outdoor. It is a historic castle and museum with royal interiors and exteriors. This is the perfect place to tell your romantic, Cinderella-esque love story. Permits are required.

Looking for a clean indoor space that's versatile enough to customize. Consider renting a studio space like Mint Studios & Preto Loft {100$ to 140$ per hour} or OBJX Studio {150$ to 175$ / per hour depending on space chosen}.

5. High Park / Cherry Beach

We love High Park and Cherry Beach for its nature focus. Our go-to spot in High Park is near the lake just off of Ellis Park Road & Valleymede Road — the cherry blossoms are so gorgeous in the spring time and no permits are required. Cherry Beach on the other hand is so versatile and lets light shine through around sunset to create a masterpiece!

Honorable mentions go to Bathurst Bridge for its architectural delights and cityscape and the CNE for its playful atmosphere.
